Winners of the Humorous Contest

 

The last Friday in August saw members of SIM I Toastmasters club descend yet again, at SMU SOESS to participate and show support at the SIM I Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest 2011.

 

The contest was chaired by our VP Membership, Lin PanPan, CC, who steered the contest thru and ensured smooth and humorous sailing. The evening unfolded with several rounds of laughter and entertainment and avid participation  by contestants and audience alike.

 

The Speech Awards went to:

Bad English is with us everywhere, in our speech, in our correspondence, in business and in the mass media. Many users of English have only a rough idea of the rules of grammar and use English poorly or carelessly.

 

This workshop conducted by Club President Patricia Lim, ATM-B, ALS looked at some common errors and helped participants understand and identify flaws in their own grammar and take proactive steps to improve their spoken English.

The third chapter meeting in the term was held at SMU SOESS.

 

In celebration of our Singapore’s National Day, the chapter meeting was themed “Red & White”.

 

The word of the evening : “Tenacious”(Adj) “Tenacity”(N)

 

The evening also saw Elizabeth, our new member being inducted into the SIM I Toastmasters Club.

 

The best table topics speaker was the wise-man of our club Mr.Christopher Foo
